Clinical Social Work

  • Focus on providing therapeutic services to individuals, families, and groups, addressing mental health issues, trauma, and substance abuse.

Community and Organisational Practice

  • Study strategies for community development, social policy advocacy, and leadership in non-profit and governmental organisations.

Child and Family Social Work

  • Explore the dynamics of family systems, child welfare, and protective services, and learn to support and empower children and families.

Gerontological Social Work

  • Specialise in working with older adults, addressing issues related to aging, health care, and end-of-life planning.

The MSW program includes core courses, specialisation electives, and a capstone project. Core courses cover essential topics such as:

  • Foundations of Social Work Practice
  • Human Behavior in the Social Environment
  • Social Work Research Methods
  • Social Welfare Policy and Services
  • Diversity and Social Justice

Students can choose electives based on their chosen specialisation, allowing them to tailor their education to their specific interests and career goals.

The capstone project is a vital component of the MSW program, allowing students to demonstrate their ability to integrate theory and practice. Working individually or in teams, students will conduct research, develop programs, or evaluate social work interventions, showcasing their readiness to contribute to the field.

Field education is a cornerstone of the MSW program, providing students with hands-on experience in real-world social work settings. Under the supervision of experienced practitioners, students will apply their classroom learning to practice, develop professional skills, and gain valuable insights into the challenges and rewards of social work.

To be considered for the MSW program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: A bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Work Experience: Relevant professional or volunteer experience in social work or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Transcripts: Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended.
  • Letters of Recommendation: Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional references.
  • Statement of Purpose: A personal statement outlining your career goals and how the MSW program aligns with them.
  • Resume/CV: A current resume or curriculum vitae.
  • Interview: Selected candidates may be invited for an interview as part of the admission process.
  • Language Proficiency: For non-native English speakers, TOEFL or IELTS scores are required.
